One of the characteristics of deer hair and this dubbing material is flaring when it gets tied down. The amount of flaring depends on its texture and the thread pressure applied. Therefore, if you are tying this material to form wings or tails, use less pressure with a thread so you get less flaring. When you want to achieve a muddler head look, use stronger thread pressure to get more flaring.
