Realistic Stonefly Nymph Wing Buds & Back
Realistic Stonefly Nymph Wing Buds & Back is quite a unique material from Hemingway's, excellent for tying realistic stonefly nymphs. Wing buds and main body backs are precut, preformed, flexible, waterproof, and UV resistant. Use them with Stonefly Nymph Legs to get super-authentic stoneflies. They come in various colors and three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. Small is a good choice for hook size #10, medium for #8, and large for #6. Longer shank hooks are recommended.
- Small and Medium: 20 sets per pack
- Large: 15 sets per pack

How to Fish Stonefly Nymphs
The main technique when stonefly nymph fishing is to try to imitate the natural behavioral drifting of real insects down the bottom of the stream and keep the fly at the trouts eye level. Drag-free, dead drifting along the bottom is the best option. Start with an upstream short cast to allow the fly to drop to the bottom, then dead drift down the current until it starts lifting up to the surface. Extending the drift downstream as long as possible would pay off. Using a strike indicator is recommended as it can greatly help in identifying the action.
