Collection: Hooks
A reliable hook is the foundation of every fly. Our collection of premium fly tying hooks offers the strength, sharpness, and precise shapes required to tie patterns that fish well and last long. Whether you’re tying delicate dry flies, heavy Euro nymphs, or predatory streamers, the right hook ensures proper balance, realistic presentation, and solid hook penetration.
Modern hook design combines chemically sharpened points, high-carbon steel, specialty bends, and purpose-built wire diameters to maximize performance for every style of fly. With the right profile and weight, your fly sits correctly in the water column, moves naturally, and hooks fish securely.
Choosing the Right Hook Style
Dry Fly Hooks
Lightwire, high-floating hooks used for delicate patterns such as mayflies and caddis dries. Their fine wire helps flies sit naturally on or just above the surface film.
Nymph Hooks
Heavier wire for durability and better sink rate. Ideal for bead-head nymphs, soft hackles, emergers, caddis pupae, and general subsurface flies.
Jig & Euro Nymph Hooks
Barbless, competition-style hooks with a jig bend that keeps the fly riding point-up, reducing snagging and improving hook-ups. Perfect for Czech, Polish, French, and modern Euro nymphing techniques.
Streamer Hooks
Strong, long-shank hooks built for bigger flies and predatory fish. Great for leeches, baitfish patterns, zonkers, pike flies, and articulated streamers.
Curved / Scud / Pupa Hooks
Curved profiles that mimic the shape of larvae, pupae, scuds, shrimp, and chironomids. Excellent for realistic life-cycle patterns.
Stinger & Short-Shank Hooks
Used for articulated flies, small streamers, and patterns requiring wide-gap hooking performance. Often chosen for trout spey, warmwater, and mini-streamer designs.
Specialty Hooks
Includes egg hooks, shrimp hooks, and tube fly hooks for salmon, steelhead, carp, and other species where unique presentation or strength is required.
Buying Tips
- Choose dry fly hooks when tying buoyant, delicate patterns.
- Use nymph or pupa hooks for most subsurface flies.
- Pick jig hooks for Euro-style nymphs and point-up swimming action.
- Select streamer hooks for larger baitfish or predator flies.
- Use curved hooks for midge larvae, scuds, shrimp, and caddis pupae.
- Match hook size to fly size, not species—smaller patterns fish more naturally.
- For stronger fish or aggressive takes, choose heavy-wire or premium barbless options.
A well-chosen hook increases hooking percentage, improves the fly’s posture and movement, and ensures your flies stay effective through many strikes.
