Virtual Nymph Skin
Virtual Nymph Skin is a world-renowned fly tying material for creating realistic segmented bodies on nymphs, larvae, and other aquatic insects. Trusted by fly tyers around the world, it is especially well-suited for tying lifelike caddis pupae, stonefly nymphs, wing cases, and many other realistic fly patterns.
Made from a durable latex-type material, Virtual Nymph Skin stretches easily without becoming sticky, making it simple to create clean, segmented bodies. The material is highly resistant to UV exposure and designed to retain its elasticity and suppleness over time, providing consistent performance fly after fly.
Available in a wide range of colors to match different insects and hatches, it also comes in two widths—3 mm and 4.6 mm—to suit everything from smaller nymphs to larger stonefly and caddis patterns. The material can also be colored with permanent markers for even greater realism and customization.
Each package contains approximately 1.5 metres (5 ft) of Virtual Nymph Skin.
Tips
- Caddis Gray and Dark Tan are excellent choices for realistic caseless caddis larvae (Hydropsyche) and caddis pupae.
- Midge Red closely matches Chironomus annularis (bloodworm/midge larva).
- Translucent (4.6 mm) is ideal for larger stonefly and caddis patterns.
- Black (4.6 mm) works exceptionally well for large black stonefly nymphs.
-
Sally Yellow (4.6 mm) is perfect for Yellow Sally stonefly nymph patterns.
The material can easily be customized with permanent markers to create additional shades and realistic effects.
