Tungsten Beads
Tungsten Beads are one of the most innovative fly tying materials when comes to tying nymphs. These beads will make your nymphs sink deeper, faster, and get in the fishing zone quickly, thus enabling you to catch more fish.
Tungsten is almost two times heavier than lead and has approximately 50% more weight than brass beads of the same size. This means you get your fly close to the bottom quicker. Another benefit of using this material is its high weight density – it allows you to use smaller beads and tie slimmer and smaller nymphs than with other materials.
Tungsten is a non-toxic material, the most eco-friendly sinker you can find today. It is an exceptionally durable, corrosion-proof material. Tungsten (also known as wolfram) is a chemical element. Its name comes from the Swedish language, meaning ‘heavy stone’.
Tungsten beads are excellent material for tying nymphs, as well as wet flies and streamers. Nymphs tied with tungsten beads are essential for fishing in fast, turbulent streams, as well as deep pools. When fishing fast, heavier waters, using a tungsten bead allows for the fly to drop rapidly into the fishing zone. Generally, whenever deep nymphing, or when you need your fly down fast, using tungsten bead would ensure you get your fly where it’s needed and to get it there quicker than with any other material used.
Our Tungsten Beads are of high quality, extra durable and resilient, super-pure (97% tungsten), and come with 20 beads per bag. They have a standard, drilled hole and are suitable for traditional hooks. Colored beads add to the attractiveness of the fly, and provide additional flash and a hot spot for your fly.
