Ostrich Feathers 10-12 inch
Ostrich feathers are a very versatile fly tying material. Similar to marabou feathers, these feathers are incredibly mobile in the water, with tons of movement and volume. The length of 10-12” (25-30cm) is the most used when it comes to tying all kinds of streamers.
Excellent for tying steelhead and salmon flies, intruder and tube flies, pike flies. Can be used for trout flies and grayling flies too. If you are tying fresh river flies for trout and grayling, these feathers are great material for scuds, as well as creating thorax on nymphs. Also perfect for making wing cases and bodies on nymph fly patterns. With the tips of these herls, you can add extra movement and color to your wet flies. Herls of these feathers wrapped around the abdomen make a great impression of gills.
